Future Nuclear Posture

This is perhaps the best article and summary, to date, on the fundamental conflict in defining the future "Nuclear Posture". The stockpile must be maintained in a state such that there is high confidence that the weapons would function correctly if ever to be used. This requires both enhanced life extension programs and probably the "Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW). However, any significant efforts on these stockpile programs will not be too popular with Non-Profileration folks who believe that the US must set an example of "nuclear weapon minimization".

I don't see how these conflicts will be resolved in the near future but the debate should be interesting.
