On a Kevin Costner kick recently, I kept the streak alive this weekend by watching Thirteen Days (2000). The movie retells the tense days of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis through the eyes of Kenny O'Donnell (Costner), a special assistant to JFK.

I’d give the movie 7 out of 10. Here’s the trailer.

NOH Movie Review: No Way Out

I got back from my run in the rain last night, popped a delicious Stouffer’s chicken and broccoli pasta bake into the microwave, and checked to see what cheesy movie I could watch for free on Comcast On Demand.

I settled on No Way Out starring Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, and Will Patton.

Wow. I can’t even begin to express how awesomely bad this “Cold War thriller” was. I mean, presidential candidate Fred Thompson plays the CIA director for chrissakes.

Maybe the trailer will give a good sense.

My favorite line:

[Kevin Costner’s lover, as he leaves]: Take care of yourself. Send postcards from exotic ports of call. That’s what you call them, isn’t it? Exotic ports of call?

[Kevin Costner]: A port’s a port. You’re exotic.

Oh I think they like me!

NOH recommendation: Watch this movie, take two aspirin, and then wash it all down by watching a real classic like War Games.
